Ice fishing results

The season started off well, with the ice huts on nighthawk just after christmas. Snow and slush conditions were minimal, which made the trout lakes a pleasure to snowmobile on. And with the help of the fish gods we were able to enjoy some crispy cooked fillets. So here are some still photo's results of the ice fishing season.

First laker of the season

The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources has introduced additional lake trout lakes to the open all year season. Check your 2008-2009 fishing regulations summary. Here pro staff Serge Labelle displays his first lake trout of the season.

Nighthawk still has lots to offer.

Every trip we have made at our ice hut on Nighthawk Lake, has been quite successful. I've probably seen more walleye come through the ice this year then in the last three years which is a good sign. There still a high population of sauger in the hawk, and are good eating. Also many large pike patrol the area and leave there mark, the broken line trick. The Nighthawk will host up to 150 huts or maybe even more from December to March. So the hawk still has lots to offer.
